Railay Great View Resort ★★★★

Clean & fresh

Everything was excellent. Comfortable rooms and good breakfast. Great for couples I think. It is quiet.

It's quite hilly if you have a room up top and it's about a 10 min walk to town but I quite like that. The hotel is a little dated but it still has charm and I was happy with everything.

Excellent position. Close to village and beach, but still quiet and secluded. Great view from the rooms.

Local beach is small. Boat services make noise during the day, but this is the same for all Railay resorts.

Beautiful landscape and view. Room was fantastic, very comfortable with a great view to the sea. The breakfast is quite good!

Staff, location, rooms and pool incredible. Super clean and spacious. Amazing massages.

The boats keep on crossing to the mainland and it makes it hard to sleep. Such an amazing and cool place but impossible to rest properly without earplugs. (Available in the room)

The location.

The location is amazing, but not that suitable with kids if you have any. The staff is really nice.

All good, only problem was the noise in the night of the boats and the aircon system, a bit disturbing but still the hotel provided for the earplugs. The pos connection was a bit slow and in the end we paid with cash.

It can get quite loud during the night because of the passing long tail boats. The breakfast was disappointing. The hotel was ok, but not for that price.

I loved the vibe of the property. The people were so friendly especially in the restaurant. We ate there every night and do not regret it! The food for great! Really big menu and they do every dish really well. The walk into Railay centre is great for not letting the Thai food go to your butt! So scenic the walk too. The rooms were stunning and so down to earth. Exactly what I wanted! I loved the view of the rooftops and forest. Feel like another world. Would absolutely come back here again! Yes you can hear boats in the distance but it doesn’t stop sleep or is too loud and annoying. Still really peaceful. We stayed for 7 nights and it was the perfect amount of time for us. We just wanted to relax and enjoy and that is exactly what we did!

Beautiful and so relaxing place. Away from the noice but just 15 minutes walking to the beach. Service 5 starts. Breakfast and the dinner we had very good. The employees are very friendly and professional.

It has really amazing infinity pool with a view to the sea. Also its very quiet and serene.

It was very far away from the Railay east and west beach which made it difficult for us to reach.

Location a little bit far from the center of Railay, but there are free shuttles. Otherwise it is only 10min walking.

Nice hotel in a beautiful area. The facilities were nice, with a nice rustic wood looking. However, there was a constant noise from the boats traffic in front of the hotel, from early in the morning (it starts at 6 am) until late in the night. It certainly ruins the peaceful environment that this hotel could have. It would be a perfect hotel to relax if not for the constant boat noise.

Incredibly big and comfortable room. Bed was really good (not the king size we were used to), balcony was perfect and the bathtub was a plus. Staff is amazingly helpful and friendly. The gentleman that “runs” the breakfast and the pool area is the best. You can see a genuine smile on his face. Pool is the highlight of the hotel.

I had to walk (more like climb) for literally 30 minutes to get to the property, carrying a 25kg luggage. Later, they said they can provide a boat from the pier to the hotel but that information should be way more explicit. It is unbelievable how much you have to walk if you want to go to Railay’s city center. We were always sad and happy when we arrived back at the hotel. Happy that we finally got there and sad that we still had to climb (literally, climb) to our room. I kept wondering what would happen if I had a broken foot or if I was disabled. There wasn’t a single bit of information about that. So we finally got to the room, tired as hell from walking. Our shower was broken. We called the reception and two guys went there to fix it. They were very friendly, but that wasn’t really the experience we expected. I think that they should have moved us to another room, because after all, the shower was horrible. Even after they “fixed” it. They changed it to another model, which didn’t suit the shower. All we could get were drips of water. We complained once again, but they didn’t care much. We could bear it though. Hotel is located on the inhabited area of Railay. It is still a beach, an ugly one, but you can’t swim there (at least no one does). We asked to speak to the manager after our disgraceful first day there and asked for a refund, explaining everything that happened. She wasn’t helpful at all. All she did was check if we could be refunded, and the answer was “no”. We expected that, of course. We then asked to move to another room, the answer was “sorry, we are fully booked. Your shower is working now.” She also offered a boat for us from the hotel to the closest pier when we checked out but that should be mandatory for every guest, considering how long the walk is.

This hotel is very hard to reach and the staff were not at all willing to help us find our way there. The rooms are ok but there is a plague of mosquitos all over the site, the pool area and restaurant and beaches are just average. Also no alcohol is available, which should be made clear on the website since the place is so remote. Staff were very unfriendly with the exception of the porters. Plenty of lovely hotels in Railay that are much cheaper - this was really not worth the price.

Everything else. Bungalow itself, balcony, beautiful bathroom, lots of plants, tress, flowers around, monkeys in the trees, swimming pool, restaurant with very goog breakfasts. 10 min walk from the main part of the village where you can find restaurants and bars

It is loud here until late evening and since early morning. Bungalows are set on the slope of a mountain and every single motorboat going through the bay make quite a big disturbing noise that spreads along the water and to the slope. Its a price of a nice view I suppose.

The resort itself is gorgeous. I loved that it was situated in a private beach area away from the commercialisation of Railay East. The pool was lovely as was the breakfast buffet (added bonus with the omelette station!).

We had dinner at the resort both nights and both nights they were out of half the options - would have been nice to be told this upfront. The map they give you of Railay is a little misleading for someone whose it’s their first time - ie when you’re coming back from ao Nang be sure to get off at Railay West and walk through vs going to the cove (where we originally got on) and walking all the way around. Also would be good to get a heads up that if you’re trying to make one of the only four times to get the shuttle back to Great View to leave Ao Nang at least an hour ahead of time. We did the look out hike at railay which was quite dusty so naturally when we showered and toweled off, some of the dust got on the towels. At check out the staff almost made us pay for this which is ridiculous as you are meant to use the towels how you see fit. Whole point of them being a hotel is they can mass wash with bleach. Also would have been nice to get a heads up that buying a ferry ticket to Phi Phi is cheaper if you buy on Railay instead of the hotel. Didn’t realise there was no alcohol available.
